Sessions are provided in your child’s home, school, or via teletherapy. We will work together to find the best environment for your child to receive services.

We love it when parents or caregivers are able to participate. When involved in a session, parents are able to implement strategies outside of therapy (which is always beneficial). That said, we understand that your schedule may not allow you to sit in or that your child may work better independently. Your therapist will work with your to create a plan to make sure you’re always in the loop on your child’s progress.

If your child is unable to participate in a scheduled session, please cancel your session via our client portal a minimum of 24 hours in advance.  The late cancellation / no show fee is $50 and is not billable to insurance. That said, we understand that children may present symptoms of illness the morning of his/her therapy session.  Parents will not be penalized for late cancellations due to illness.  If you do need to cancel the same day as services, please text your therapist in addition to cancelling the appointment via our client portal.

Please contact us at billing@therapyworks.com or call 312.780.0820 and we’ll make sure your questions are answered.

When your child is evaluated, your therapist will make a recommendation for the frequency of treatment and provide you with a general idea of the length of therapy. Most children receive therapy one to three times per week. Every other week or once a month often works well for children that are easing out of therapy to ensure that they maintain skills. We will work with you to find a schedule that enables your child to succeed.

As a service to you, we bill insurance on your behalf and will check your insurance coverage before beginning services. We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and we bill other plans as an out-of-network provider. We submit a claim to your insurance after each session. Once the claim is finalized, we will charge the credit card on file you have provided for any amount not paid by insurance and you will receive a receipt via email. Please note that a quote of benefits and/or authorization does not guarantee payment or verify eligibility. Payment of benefits is subject to all terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the member’s contract at time of service.

Speech and feeding therapy sessions are 45 minutes. Occupational and physical therapy and social work sessions are 55 minutes.

We understand you may not have time or be able to attend your child’s session. Your child’s therapist will send a re-cap and recommendations after the session. Parent and caregiver communication is very important to us. We will work together to ensure that your child is successful in meeting their goals. We are always available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and brainstorm solutions for your child.

If your child has not been evaluated within the past 12 months, we will conduct an evaluation and write new treatment plan prior to getting started. The evaluation is conducted at your child’s first scheduled session. Your therapist will provide you with treatment goals, frequency recommendations and a general idea of the length of treatment.

If you have a current evaluation report, your child will not need to be re-evaluated. You child’s therapist will review the relevant report(s) prior to getting started.

COVID-19 Protocol

We hope you and your family are continuing to stay safe and healthy! We have outlined our protocols for in-person sessions during COVID-19. As you know, the health and safety of our clients and therapists remain our highest priority. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together through these unprecedented times.

Hand Washing:
Upon arrival at your home, your therapist will wash their hands with soap and water and/or use hand sanitizer. We ask that you and your child also wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer upon your therapist’s arrival.

Facemasks:
We are asking our therapists to wear masks upon entering your home and throughout your child’s session. That said, we understand that some children have adverse reactions to seeing adults in masks and will leave it up to you and your therapist to decide your comfort level while still taking safety precautions.

We ask that parents and caregivers also follow the guidelines and wear masks when sitting in on sessions. We will not enforce that policy, but we do kindly ask for compliance.

As for your child, we realize that masks may not be appropriate for every child so we will not enforce the rule that children over the age of 2 should wear a mask.  However, if your therapist insists that your child wear a mask, then that will be a requirement directly between the two of you. We respect our therapists’ individual comfort levels with safety precautions and ask that you respect them as well.

Protocol Acknowledgment and Health Certification:

Before your child’s first in-person session, we are asking clients to submit an acknowledgment of these protocols and a health certification, which you can find here. Thank you again for your cooperation and for helping all of us stay healthy!
